During the weeks and months of COVID social distancing, remote virtual inspections (RVI) achieved widespread acceptance and deployment. General site inspections, virtual audits, inspections, and assessments of specific components during the manufacturing, fabrication, or in-service can all be done with remote virtual inspections.
There are now a number of remote inspection services to choose from. Some companies use a “closedloop” model, in which the supplier is in charge of all software and hardware in their ecosystem. Others use a more open approach, providing the system but allowing the inspections to be captured using any acceptable device, such as a smartphone, tablet, smart glasses, or even drones or mobile service robots. AROTEC may provide both services, either by supplying specialists to attend virtual inspections or by establishing an ecosystem that allows the client to participate in the inspection while the inspector is present.
